Marijuana arrests make up a large portion of Harris County's police time, jail space, and prosecutorial resources. Nearly a year has passed since District Attorney Devon Anderson, Police Chief McClelland, and former Sheriff Adrian Garcia introduced the "first chance intervention" program to divert first-time marijuana offenders out of the jail system. This panel will discuss the program's results and potential expansion. They'll also cover past and future statewide legislation regarding marijuana policy.
